Lucy is a 53-year-old woman who has experienced significant personal challenges throughout her life. Before receiving support from Komplex Care, Lucy faced several challenges that severely impacted her physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Her autism, coupled with her ongoing struggles with mental health, made daily life an uphill battle. Lucy experienced frequent falls, sometimes several times a day, and her physical health declined as a result.
Her home, once a place of comfort, became increasingly cluttered, creating a fire hazard and posing significant safety risks. Lucy’s isolation grew as her mental health worsened. She felt incredibly lonely which added to her physical and mental decline.
Komplex Cares Support
Komplex Care has played a vital role in improving Lucy’s well-being and overall quality of life. The care staff have helped keep her out of the hospital, ensuring she receives the right support at home.
Through their encouragement, Lucy has regained confidence in herself. She now takes pride in doing her hair and makeup and is once again able to enjoy her favourite hobbies, such as arts and crafts. The care staff also maintain a diary of her hospital appointments, ensuring she never misses an important visit.
On days when Lucy is feeling low, the staff provide emotional support while also respecting her need for space. Over time, the Komplex Care team have come to recognise changes in her mood and understand how best to support her.
As a result, Lucy now experiences a better quality of life and feels she is “regaining a sense of normality”, which has had a positive impact on her mental and emotional well-being.
My Journey
“I recently had my first trip out in months with Steph (a registered nurse at Komplex Care), and seeing my home come together has lifted my mood. My house was cluttered, unsafe, and a fire hazard, with inaccessible rooms and an overgrown garden previously.
Steph helped secure a new wheelchair, arrange OT equipment, and coordinate home improvements, including a safer kitchen and flooring. She has also kept up with cleaning, and new carers will soon help maintain my home, making daily life much more manageable.”
Komplex Care assists Lucy with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and catheter care. Staff maintain a clean home, manage her PEJ medication, and offer emotional support and companionship.
