FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Because we are clinically-led, we are specifically accredited to provide training across a whole range of clinical skills which help improve our clients’ quality of life. Many of our clients rely on respiratory support, such as ventilation or a tracheostomy, meaning we are experts in ensuring our team can provide the full range of care needed for them – including equipment changes, identifying and acting when there’s an issue, cough assist and all other airway management.

We train our staff to provide a range of gastronomy clinical care for our clients who rely on gastrointestinal nutrition such as PEGs or JEJs; and we’re also there to support with all bladder and bowel needs, including manual evacuation and catheter care.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of the types of clinical need that we can train and provide care around – so please do get in touch for more details about our capability and capacity.

Following the successful assessment and mobilisation of each care package, our clients are allocated a dedicated regional Operations Manager who oversees the delivery of the package. In addition, each client has a Nurse Manager whose responsibility is around the clinical competency of each staff member involved in their care, including ongoing training.

Our Rapid Response team work across the country to ensure that any short-time or urgent changes are accommodated efficiently and effectively, and also to assist with discharge from hospital and the set-up of new packages where needed. This team is specially trained to deal with a wide range of clinical needs, to ensure they are able to work with all clients alongside their regular assigned care team.

Working to CQC requirements, we involve clients and their families in decisions around their care at all times – providing support which is centred around their individual needs and requirements.

There will be a small, hand-picked team who have been specifically trained to support your child’s exacting health needs. You’ll get to know this team very well over time, and we’ll always share schedules in good time with you, so you know who to expect and when. In addition, your child will have an allocated regional Operations Manager who oversees all of the practical elements of the package – such as staffing, and liaising with the other health professionals involved in their care. There will also be a specific Nurse Manager who ensures all staff are competency assessed on an ongoing basis, and that all medical requirements such as medication management are being delivered effectively and safely.

We also have a Registered Manager, Head of Nursing and Operations Director who will be more than happy to discuss any specific concerns or questions with you.

If your child is being discharged from hospital, our Rapid Response team are on hand 24/7 to help support a smooth transition back into the home environment. Particularly when it’s the first time the child has come home, it can be a stressful time for parents and caregivers. Our skilled team will oversee clinical and personal care, as well as liaising with other health professionals to ensure that you are able to settle back into family life and get into a routine as quickly as possible.

At Komplex Care, we provide both paediatric and adult clinically-led care, which means there will be effectively no change once a child turns 18. We recognise the need for continuity of care, so their care package will remain the same aside from any changes which are clinically required or requested by the individual or their family.

Once you’re a Komplex client, we are here to support you for the foreseeable future.
